Vale – Neil “Tiny” Betts
Lauries Old Boy, Souths Rugby Foundation Member, Life Member and President for 11 years, Neil “Tiny” passed away on Saturday 4 Feb. He played for Australia in three Tests and between 1948 and 1956, played a then record of 46 games for Queensland. Debuting for the State in 1948 he was made captain of the side in 1954.
Betts won selection in the Australian team in 1951 when he went into the front row with fellow Queenslander and Lauries Old Boy Nev Cotterell. In 1969 Betts was made a life member of the Queensland Rugby Union.
The St Laurence’s College Old Boys’ Association expresses its sympathies to Neil’s family, friends and the entire South Rugby community.
